Raisa Gates is an American artist of Filipino origin, born in Denver, Colorado, in 1991.
As a child, the daily ritual of drawing her family marked the beginning of her creative exploration. Having spent part of her adult life living nomadically, she initially pursued photography, fascinated by the art of portraiture as well as her personal narrative of lineage and self-portraiture. Naturally drawn to plastic arts, she resumed painting in 2020. Raisa’s artistic narrative is an intimate exploration of our connections with ourselves and others.
